What is Erazme?

Erazme specializes in the management of legacy digital and personal data.   During our lifetime we generate an enormous amount of data and nowadays most of that data is stored remotely. Long gone are the days when we stored our data on a computer in our home which is much easier to pass on and manage.  Today the majority of our data is stored remotely.   This is often referred to as being 'in the cloud' which is just another way of saying that someone else stores your data for you.

When we pass on, it's important that we keep the data we want and delete any data that may inconvenience our loved ones.   The last thing they will want to do is deal with issues arising from their relative's digital legacy.

Below are some of the common problems experienced due to mismanagement of digital and legacy data;

  • Access to digital accounts, bank accounts, and other financial assets

  • Recurring charges for services such as data storage, antivirus protection, licenses, etc

  • Content on social media accounts

How do I access the service?

The most common solution is to specify in your Will that the Executor of your estate appoints Erazme to be responsible for managing your digital legacy.  This ensures that your request will be actioned at the appropriate time and instructions given by an authorized person.  Erasme will liaise with the Executor of the Will during the data management process.

If you wish to be more prepared, you can also appoint Erasme to set up your legacy data strategy which then can be incorporated into your Will for the executor to implement.

How does Erazme work?

Once appointed, Erazme implements either a preset or bespoke process as defined by instructions.  The preset process generally follows 22 separate established stages that are sequenced to gradually reduce the amount of data production and storage followed by the transformation of data that is to be retained, into a format for retention and transfer.

What information do I have to provide?

To enable Erazme to work most efficiently there is some basic information that needs to be shared.  This information is collected in the form of an Excel file and is usually incorporated into your Will to be shared with Erazme at the appropriate time. It is recommended that the document is reviewed every year to ensure it is up to date.  Erazme will provide support as needed to complete the documents.

Privacy and Security?

It is recommended that clients incorporate the information that Erazme will need into their Will as these are generally lodged in a safe and secure location with a solicitor or similarly authorized person.   If you prefer, Erazme can also store this information, which is held in a physically secure vault that is not susceptible to data breaches.

Erazme will not use any information that is provided by clients without the express approval of them or their authorized person.

Erazme maintains the required level of Public Liability and Specialist insurance.

Biometrics?

Modern mobile devices generally incorporate biometric systems to help prevent unauthorized access (eg fingerprint and face recognition).   It is therefore important that you set up passwords and other authentication methods in the event that your biometric access is not functioning.  The alternative authentication methods should be recorded on your Erazme spreadsheet and lodged in a safe and secure location.

What fees are payable?
